The Preserve at Lakeway

The Preserve at Lakeway sits high in the heart of Lakeway with mile-long views of the Hill Country. Started in 2003, this real estate development was named for its proximity to the Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Preserve where residents are surrounded by rare and endangered plant and animal species found nowhere else on earth.

The vast, forested hills of the canyonlands sprawl to the east and the colorful topography of the Lake Travis area unfold to the west. If your style leans away from a large master-planned community, then the Preserve is a charming alternative.

This neighborhood consists mainly of single family homes, although condos have been developed in a few smaller sections of the neighborhood. Homes in The Preserve at Lakeway vary from traditional to Tuscan, with several lots backing up to the Balcones Canyonlands Preserve.

Construction is still ongoing around the neighborhood and thus, the neighborhood has a newer feeling. The size of homes in The Preserve at Lakeway range from 1,800-6,000 sq. ft. Home builders in the neighborhood include Sendero Homes, Plantation Homes, Village Builders, David Weekley Homes and Meritage Homes.

Lakeway Medical Village, which is still in development, is anchored by the community’s large hospital, Lakeway Regional Medical Center. Additional tenants will include senior living facilities, The Goddard School of Lakeway, La Quinta and Marriott, as well as other medical-related services and retailers.

A few miles down RR 620 is the Oaks at Lakeway– which is anchored by a 90,000-square-foot H-E-B grocery store and restaurant– and when fully-developed will feature a “Main Street” vibe with an entertainment district, shopping, dining, and hotels. Another project being proposed for a huge tract of land near Lakeway Elementary school is creating an Arts District to support the arts and culture that exist in this thriving community.

The Preserve at Lakeway is in the Lake Travis Independent School District. Students attend Lakeway Elementary, Lake Travis Middle School and Lake Travis High School, known nationwide for its stellar football program, a stand-out in Texas high school football.
